Hi. I’m from Mumbai, India. Hailing from a business oriented family; I completed my undergraduate degree in business management and went on to take up a job in risk analysis at Ernst & Young. During my tenure at EY, I realized my inclination towards art, which had remained a hobby until then.
Engaged in print media for my college got me interested in designing, from where I began my journey as a freelance graphic designer with the main focus on branding. I continued freelancing even while at EY. As I enjoyed my freelance work more than the actual job, I decided to pursue it professionally and build a career in design. This when I resonated with Steve Jobs’ quote, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
Thus, to know more about the design field, I took a year’s time to prepare my portfolio and intern at an art studio. During this period, I learnt about the MFADT program at Parsons and considered it an advanced program that would integrate my existing knowledge with my areas of interest and lead me to grow in the field of design. Unaware of the options and opportunities this course has to offer, I want to take the first year to learn and experience the various options and then focus on what I truly like in the second year.
